Reviews about Craigshill Health Centre

  • I have some issues, but overall I've always found the doctors and nurses to be pleasant, professional, and helpful. Apart from giving you links/leaflets to contact a suicide line/counselling. I don't agree with that approach. I think if the doctor turned his computer around and said, these are our options and what we're going to do, if you feel comfortable, is pick the best option for you and have you referred right now so that a counsellor/someone will contact you ASAP to help you. When my depression was really bad, I used to take their sheet of links home and just leave it. I know they can't FORCE you to phone the lines, but still. I think a more patient and compassionate approach will restore their patients faith, but maybe that's just me. Dr. Kelly is lovely and very sweet. He's always really nice to me and patient. I miss Dr Coutsia (sp) and the pretty doctor who had long blonde, sometimes plaited hair. She'd been seeing me since I was a kid and I always remember her telling me not to feel self-conscious about being taller than the other girls. One day I would own it. (I own it like there's no tomorrow, honey, so thank you!) There was a children's' doctor, too, who I saw once or twice and she had a beautiful soul. She felt my pain, not just on a professional level, but on a human level and I remember her smile. So warm, which at the time, was all I needed to get me through the day. For years, and my family often agreed with me, I wasn't a fan of the receptionist. I always found her curt and rude. I think when you enter a health clinic, you want to be welcomed with a warm face and smile. I know everyone has their demons and putting a smile is hard, but if I can manage it at work, I'm sure other people can. There's nothing worse, especially old and disabled people, walking in to be greeted by someone utterly rude and dispassionate. I've not been in a while, so not sure what the reception is like. I'd suggest investing in a younger receptionist, or someone who can smile and welcome us. I just say younger b/c they tend to have a more fresher outlook. I wish there was an alternative to truly sick/disabled people. Having them queue outside at 7 am in the cold is just MENTAL. There should be an option on the phone for people who are genuinely ill/frail and need help. I know there's an emergency option, but I think considering an option for them would be helpful. In all, I have a lot of respect for the doctors and nurses who work there. The nurses are always so lovely (even when I squeal getting bloods taken) and the doctors are, as I said, professional and helpful and the odd few are sweet and compassionate. I think the clinic is improving, despite the troublers our health boards face.
